On 6 November, Glorielys Pérez, general coordinator of the Venezuelan Observatory on Violence against LGBTI People, told EFE that it had recorded 198 cases of violence and discrimination in the country since the start of 2026. EFE gives the period as January to September, as does the section heading in the observatory’s report. In the paragraph giving the total, the authors specify January to August.

The observatory recorded 150 instances of discriminatory speech, 24 cases it classified as bias-motivated crimes and 22 discriminatory incidents. The report also included a missing-person report and one case of violence between people of the same gender. State officials were involved in 13 cases, according to the monitoring.

The authors included two killings in the report. A stylist was killed in Sucre state in May, and a 23-year-old transgender woman was shot dead at a nightspot in Táchira state in August. The report says investigations were announced in both cases.

The observatory called on the authorities to investigate abuses by state officials. It also recommended taking the needs of LGBTI people into account in humanitarian programmes, including in aid for people affected by the June earthquakes.

The report mentions the police raid on an LGBT venue in Barquisimeto previously covered by Uránia. At the time, prosecutors announced an investigation and the detention of five police officers. Uránia also covered the 31 October march in Caracas, where participants called for measures against discrimination and collected aid for people affected by the earthquakes.
