On November 5, 2026, French LGBT magazine Têtu examined a claim by Alice Coffin, a former Green member of the Council of Paris. In an interview with SimiliQueer at a book festival in Strasbourg, she said that LGBT voters inclined to vote for the far right were primarily gay men and that this was less common among lesbians.

In a February poll conducted by Ifop for Têtu, 32% of LGBT respondents who named a candidate chose one of three far-right figures in a hypothetical first round of the 2027 French presidential election. They were Jordan Bardella of National Rally, Éric Zemmour and Nicolas Dupont-Aignan. According to Ifop’s methodology, 742 registered voters out of 1,137 LGBT respondents were asked to choose a candidate.

In its comparison of broader groups, Têtu put voting intentions for far-right candidates at around 27% among gay, bisexual and pansexual men and around 26% among lesbian, bisexual and pansexual women. In a comparison limited to gay men and lesbians, the figures were 29% and 37%, respectively.

Those two narrower groups contained 214 gay men and 78 lesbians before counting only respondents who named a candidate. Têtu notes that small groups make estimates more uncertain. The magazine concluded that the poll did not support Coffin’s claim.
