Members of Berliner CSD, the association that organises Berlin’s LGBT Pride, met in Berlin on 3 November and adopted a resolution on the city’s bid to host WorldPride 2032. They called on the next Berlin government to commit to political and financial support for the bid in its coalition agreement.

The appeal is addressed to the Berlin branches of the Left Party (Die Linke), the Greens and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). The three parties opened coalition talks on 2 November. Their preliminary agreement makes no mention of WorldPride. Queer.de reports that CSD board member Marcel Voges expressed regret at the omission and said he now hopes the bid will be included in the coalition agreement.

In July, the Berlin LGBT groups affiliated with the Left, the Greens, the SPD, the Christian Democrats (CDU) and the Free Democrats (FDP) backed the bid in a joint statement. They called for funding for both the bid and the festival itself if Berlin is selected.

Berliner CSD announced its intention to bid in June. If Berlin is selected, it will be the first time Germany has hosted WorldPride, an international LGBT festival. The host city is chosen by a vote of the members of InterPride, an international association of Pride organisers.

Uránia previously reported on the programme Bangkok put forward in its bid for WorldPride 2030.
