Drag Performer Trixie Mattel Receives Award at US LGBT Business Gathering

Drag performer and entrepreneur Trixie Mattel received an award for business achievement at the tenth LGBTQ Networking Mega Mixer in Los Angeles, United States, on October 21, 2026. According to LAPost’s report, the California Rainbow Chamber event at the Sofitel hotel brought together about 300 entrepreneurs, community figures and public officials.

The Entrepreneurial Excellence award, announced beforehand by the Los Angeles Blade, recognizes Mattel’s business work. Her projects include Trixie Cosmetics and the Trixie Motel in Palm Springs, California. Accepting the award, she discussed difficulties LGBT people face when starting their own businesses.

Chamber President and CEO Marquita Thomas said one priority was increasing the number of certified LGBT-owned businesses and their inclusion in supplier databases. She said this should help entrepreneurs compete for government and corporate contracts, including opportunities linked to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass also said she wanted LGBT businesses to share in the Games’ economic opportunities. According to LAPost, she pledged to work with the chamber on access to contracts.

The California Rainbow Chamber helps LGBT entrepreneurs build business connections and access capital and procurement opportunities.
