Brazil’s São Paulo Publishes Preliminary Voter List for LGBT Policy Council
São Paulo, Brazil, published a preliminary voter list for its Municipal Council for LGBT Policies for the 2026–2028 term on October 22, 2026. The city’s Secretariat for Human Rights and Citizenship said the list includes people whose applications to vote were approved or rejected.
The publication allows applicants to check whether they have been cleared to vote. It concerns preparations to elect civil society representatives to an advisory body attached to the city administration. The preliminary voter list is neither an election result nor a list of elected council members.
The official election page gives October 11 as the deadline for voter registration. It also links to the timetable, electoral commission documents, the final list of approved candidates, and information on voting times and locations.
Under municipal decree No. 59.047 of October 29, 2019, the council is a permanent advisory body empowered to make proposals. The decree provides for 16 principal members: eight representing city authorities and eight representing civil society, with alternates for both groups. Civil society representatives are elected for two years.
The council is attached to the LGBT policy unit within the city’s human rights secretariat. It proposes municipal policy guidelines, monitors existing programmes and their results, recommends legislative changes, and contributes proposals for the city budget. The city describes the election as a mechanism for LGBT community participation in municipal decisions.
