Massachusetts Lesbian Bar Last Ditch Puts Its Assets Up for Sale

Last Ditch, a lesbian bar and arts venue in Greenfield, western Massachusetts, has put its equipment, furniture and inventory up for sale, LGBTQ Nation reported on November 7, 2026. It ended regular operations on October 26 but kept previously booked events on the calendar.

A plan to turn the bar into a cooperative fell through after a board could not be formed. Jackie Matellian, the remaining co-founder, is seeking a buyer or new co-owners and has offered to train them. The venue’s assets were valued at about $70,000. Matellian hopes to use the proceeds to repay a loan and cover unpaid wages.

Last Ditch opened in April 2025. The Boston Globe reported on its financial difficulties in September. Management made masks optional on Saturdays to attract more customers. Some patrons said the change would make it harder for people with weakened immune systems to visit the bar.
