Husband of Political Commentator Milo Yiannopoulos Accuses Him of Racism and Abuse Amid Divorce
John McKinley Campbell, the 42-year-old Black husband of controversial British provocateur and former political commentator Milo Yiannopoulos, has accused his spouse of violence, racism, and financial abuse during their nine-year marriage. As reported by LGBTQ Nation , citing divorce court filings, Yiannopoulos denies the allegations, calling them fabricated.
Campbell and Yiannopoulos married in Hawaii in September 2017. According to Campbell, the marriage helped Yiannopoulos obtain a green card—the right to live and work in the United States. The couple filed for divorce in the Los Angeles Superior Court in January 2025. According to the documents, Campbell describes the marriage as “enslavement, not matrimony.” The filing contains screenshots of messages in which Yiannopoulos allegedly used offensive racist slurs against his husband (including the N-word and comparisons to monkeys) and admitted that he originally “was only using you for a Green Card.”
Furthermore, Campbell accused Yiannopoulos of physical violence: he claims his husband repeatedly shoved him, threw objects at him, and threatened to kill or poison him. The documents also mention economic abuse: Campbell stated that in September 2025, Yiannopoulos allegedly locked him out of their mansion and blocked his access to living funds, leaving Campbell homeless for 90 days. Campbell also claims his husband demanded he sleep in a basement without air conditioning or plumbing to free up the bed for another person, explicitly stating in text messages: “I pay. You obey.”
Milo Yiannopoulos denies all the allegations. He called the text message screenshots “forgeries” and the accusations of violence “fantastical and false.” Yiannopoulos stated he had gifted and given Campbell around $5.5 million and claimed Campbell is currently in the grip of a “mental health crisis,” using the legal process to extract more money.
Milo Yiannopoulos is a UK native who gained prominence in the US as a MAGA movement supporter and former editor of the conservative outlet Breitbart. For years, Yiannopoulos positioned himself as an openly gay man, but in 2021 he declared himself “ex-gay,” supported conversion therapy, converted to Catholicism, and later worked with Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene and rapper Kanye West. He was previously detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and deported from the US for a visa violation, despite his past calls for stricter immigration policies.
