Activists in Vietnam Continue Campaign for Inclusive Education for LGBT Students

In the summer of 2026, the Vietnam Association for Education for All (VAEFA) held a series of consultations and government meetings in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to strengthen the principles of inclusive education. The organization continues to advocate for systemic changes that would protect the rights of vulnerable groups, including LGBT students and people with disabilities.

According to the official VAEFA website , the association regularly provides recommendations to the Ministry of Education and the National Assembly of Vietnam. Activists insist on the need to consider the requirements of homosexual, bisexual, and transgender people, as well as deaf and blind students, when developing national standards. The goal of this effort is to ensure a fair and high-quality educational environment where “no one is left behind.”

During recent events held in June and August 2026, coalition representatives discussed the reform of community learning centers and participated in a government reception of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). Although the revised Education Law of Vietnam, passed in late 2025, did not include direct mentions of LGBT protections, advocates continue to demand the eradication of discrimination in schools and equal access to educational programs for all minorities.
