Deported from the US, Milo Yiannopoulos Confirms He Remains Gay and Condemns Donald Trump

British right-wing political commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has stated that he remains gay and is married to a man, despite years of claiming to be “ex-gay” and promoting conversion therapy.

In an interview with journalist Piers Morgan released on September 1, the 41-year-old Yiannopoulos also said he is “very ashamed” of his past support for US President Donald Trump. The interview took place shortly after US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested and deported him to his home country.

According to the US Department of Homeland Security, Yiannopoulos was detained on August 27 at the New Orleans airport and expelled to the UK the following day. Authorities claim he overstayed his visa and failed to appear for an immigration hearing in July. The commentator himself calls the reason for deportation a lie and plans to appeal it, asserting that he never received court notices.

During the interview, Yiannopoulos complained about the “institutionalized brutality” of the American immigration system, calling his arrest and detention humiliating and terrifying. Responding to a question about his personal life, he confirmed that his husband continues to live in their Los Angeles home. Yiannopoulos noted that they no longer have sexual relations, but the marriage remains legally intact. The couple married in Hawaii in 2017, and the marriage was previously used by the commentator to adjust his immigration status in the US.

For a long time, Yiannopoulos was one of the most vocal supporters of the Trump administration’s hardline immigration policies, calling for the mass deportation of undocumented migrants. When the host pointed out his obvious hypocrisy for complaining about the very system he once defended, Yiannopoulos conceded: “You got me.” According to PinkNews , since 2021, the commentator had publicly referred to homosexuality as an “addiction” and advocated for the “rehabilitation” of gay people.
