LGBT Propaganda Case Opened Against Head of Security at Garage Museum in Moscow

An administrative protocol for “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations” has been drawn up in Moscow against Sergey Klyucherev, the head of security at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art. According to the Telegram channel Ostorozhno, Novosti , a magistrate court in the Yakimanka district will hear his case on August 27.

According to journalists, the prosecution stems from materials at the exhibition Art on the Frequency of the 1980s, which opened at the museum in June. Shortly after the exhibition opened, law enforcement officers visited the Garage museum and confiscated one of the displayed videos featuring two men on suspicion of propaganda. The video in the exhibition has currently been replaced.

It is expected that a similar “LGBT propaganda” protocol may soon be filed against the museum itself as a legal entity; in that case, the matter will be reviewed by Moscow’s Zamoskvoretsky Court. The Garage Museum of Contemporary Art was founded in 2008 by billionaire Roman Abramovich and designer Dasha Zhukova.
