Femboy municipal candidate Daniil Neonov detained in Moscow

Daniil Neonov, a self-nominated candidate for the council of Moscow’s Shchukino municipal district who publicly describes himself as a femboy, was detained in the Russian capital on the afternoon of 28 July. According to SOTA , he was taken to the Mitino police station.

The reason for Neonov’s detention and his procedural status were unknown at the time of publication. Neither the candidate, the Moscow police nor the OVD-Info rights project had publicly released further information. The detention has therefore been reported by a single media outlet and has not been independently confirmed.

Neonov’s campaign website identifies him as an IT specialist running in constituency No. 2. On the day before his detention, he said on his Telegram channel that he was continuing to collect the signatures required to take part in the election.

Neonov publicly calls himself a femboy, a term commonly used for a young man who incorporates feminine elements into his appearance and self-expression. His campaign was endorsed by Moscow Dawn , which called him a like-minded ally. The group had previously announced its departure from the federal structure of the unregistered Dawn party.
