Italian LGBT Catholics took part in the Pride parade in Rome
Members of the Italian LGBT Catholic community Mosaiko (Movimento Cristiani Arcobaleno) took part in the annual Pride parade in Rome. They marched alongside representatives of Evangelical churches and the Episcopal Church of St. Paul Within the Walls, New Ways Ministry reports .
The marchers carried the so-called “Cross of the Covenant” — a rainbow-colored cross used by the community during prayer gatherings. As group representatives explained, their presence at Pride aimed to demonstrate the compatibility of the Christian faith and LGBT identity, as well as to express support for civil rights, including marriage equality in Italy.
It is reported that the Christian column was received warmly at the event itself. However, later, participants faced a wave of negative online comments, many of which were written by users identifying themselves as Catholics. Mosaiko representatives noted that despite the criticism, they also received significant support from other believers.
