Russian Ministry of Justice Adds LGBT Initiative "Kallisto" to Extremist Registry

On July 3, 2026, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation added the Yaroslavl-based LGBT initiative “Kallisto” to the list of extremist organizations banned in the country. According to Parni PLUS , the restrictions on the organization have already come into force.

Earlier, at the end of April, the Yaroslavl Regional Court recognized “Kallisto” as an extremist organization. It is noted that out of the ten LGBT organizations against which the Russian Ministry of Justice initiated similar proceedings, “Kallisto” was the only one that did not have the status of a “foreign agent.” Previously, the LGBT group “Vykhod” (Coming Out) and the “International LGBT Public Movement” were also included in the extremist registry.

At this time, it is unknown whether the initiative continues its activities, as its social networks have not been updated since 2023. The founder of the project, Yaroslav Sirotkin, currently lives in emigration. In 2025, he was added to the list of extremists and recognized as a foreign agent; a criminal case has been initiated against him for participating in an extremist organization.
