St. Petersburg in Florida to Raise LGBT Flag and Host Shine with Pride Festival

On June 4, 2026, the city of St. Petersburg, Florida, will raise the LGBT flag over City Hall. The ceremony will take place during the Shine with Pride festival and will mark the beginning of Pride Month. This will be the 13th time city officials raise the flag.

The festival will run from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM local time, with the flag raising scheduled for 9:00 AM. Mayor Ken Welch, City Council Chair Lisset Hanewicz, and representatives from the St Pete Pride organization will participate in the ceremony.

The Shine with Pride festival is being held for the second time. The program features music, food from local vendors, and games. The first 400 attendees will receive a limited-edition St. Petersburg LGBT city flag as a gift. Admission to the festival is free, Watermark Out News reports.

Context: Florida’s Largest Pride

The flag raising precedes a series of Pride events in St. Petersburg. The St Pete Pride organization hosts Florida’s largest Pride Month celebration. Introductory events will take place from May 29 to May 31, with the main festivities following in June. Hundreds of thousands of attendees are expected to visit the city.
