In Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, police arrested 51 men during a raid on a gay party at a hotel. The detainees include 28 foreigners. Their ages range from 21 to 52 years.

According to Hussein Omar Khan, the director of the narcotics criminal investigation department, police conducted four separate raids. Drugs were found on 36 of the detainees. Authorities seized substances worth over 103,000 ringgit (about 26,000 US dollars), including ketamine and MDMA.

One of the party attendees was found unconscious in the hotel lobby. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. The cause of death has not yet been established.

In Malaysia, a Muslim-majority country, homosexual relations are illegal. Punishments can include fines, caning, and imprisonment for up to 20 years. Foreigners face deportation.

In late 2025, Kuala Lumpur police arrested more than 200 men during a raid on a gay spa. None of them were convicted under secular laws for homosexual relations, but 103 detained Muslims faced separate investigations in Sharia courts.
